Services

Engineering the parts of a building that cannot be undone later.

Six services, offered together or singly, across residential towers, commercial complexes, public venues, and urban renewal. Each begins with the same question: what is this structure required to carry, and for how long?

What we do

Scope stated plainly, deliverables listed.

Superstructure design

Full structural design of the frame from foundations to roof, coordinated with architecture and services.

  • Scheme comparison across concrete, composite steel, and mass timber
  • Post-tensioned and transfer-structure design for tower typologies
  • Stability systems: cores, shear walls, outriggers, braced frames
  • Reinforcement and connection detailing for tender and construction

Facade and interior load-bearing systems

The structure people actually touch: cladding support, feature stairs, and exposed interior framing.

  • Unitised and stick-system facade support with movement allowances
  • Cantilevered balconies and terraces with thermal-break detailing
  • Feature stairs, mezzanines, and long-span interior openings
  • Exposed steel and timber detailed to an architectural finish standard

Existing buildings and urban renewal

Assessment and adaptation of standing fabric, including retention and strengthening schemes.

  • Intrusive survey, material testing, and capacity assessment
  • Facade retention and temporary works commentary
  • Underpinning, foundation upgrade, and basement extension
  • Change-of-use load assessment and strengthening design

Environmental planning

Site and climate analysis carried into the structural decisions rather than reported alongside them.

  • Daylight, sunlight, and solar-gain studies driving depth and shading
  • Pedestrian wind comfort and microclimate at grade
  • Stormwater retention, permeable ground, and site ecology
  • Embodied and operational carbon accounting per scheme option

Analysis and peer review

Independent modelling and second-opinion engineering on schemes designed elsewhere.

  • Finite element modelling, stability, and dynamic response checks
  • Seismic and wind performance verification
  • Vibration assessment for offices, laboratories, and assembly spaces
  • Written peer review with prioritised findings

Construction-stage engineering

Continuity from tender to handover, so design intent survives the site.

  • Shop and fabrication drawing review
  • Site inspection at agreed structural hold points
  • Technical query response within an agreed turnaround
  • As-built verification and structural record documentation

Engagement

Three ways to appoint the studio.

Proposals always state deliverables per stage, the named engineer, review points, and what falls outside the scope.

Full building commission

Percentage of construction value

Concept through construction support on a single building or masterplan parcel, with stage-by-stage deliverables.

Defined scope

Fixed fee

A single package: a survey, a facade system, a retention scheme, a peer review, or a change-of-use assessment.

Retained advisory

Monthly retainer

Ongoing structural counsel for developers and estate teams across a portfolio of live and prospective sites.

Deliverables

What arrives at the end of each stage.

  • Structural design statement setting out loads, codes, and assumptions
  • General arrangement drawings, sections, and setting-out dimensions
  • Reinforcement, connection, and facade support detail sheets
  • Specifications for concrete, steel, timber, and testing regimes
  • Analytical model files and a written summary of results
  • Inspection records and an as-built structural set at handover
